The number 23. A movie with Jim Carrey, my favourite actor sinds Ace Ventura: Pet Detectieve and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. In the past we have seen a lof of movies with Jim Carrey, but as long as i can remember those movies were all comedies. Some time ago i heard about the number 23, a drama, thriller, mystry movie. It sounded very cool and interesting movie. Last weekend I haven seen the movie and it was good.
The movie tells a story of a dogcacher, Walter Sparrow (Jim Carrey), who gets a book as his birthdaygift from his wife Agatha (Virginia Madsen). “All the characters in this book are fictitious, and anyone finding a resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, should proceed no further…” that’s the first line in the book and Walter starts reading the book. While reading the book he finds out that the character in the book looks like him, and it’s like if he is the same person as the characters in the book. They have the same ideas, dreams etc. In the beginning it’s fun but this turns out to be a real nightmare. Walter get obsessed with the number 23. This obsession that Walter got from the book begins to control Walter. He sees the number 23 everywhere in his own life and becomes convinced that he is damned to commit the same horrific crime as Fingerling, the main character in the book. Soon he’ll have this weird dreams about commiting a crime like killing his own wife.
By reading the book he finds out that the book misses it’s last and final chapter, and Walter starts to find out who wrote the book so he can find out how the book ends. but also how he can stop his obsession with The Number 23. Slowly Walter realise the real truth behind the books and it leaves him no choise but to choose the right thing.
It was a good movie. The story isn’t hard to follow and the acting is good. I had never expected the ending of the movie so it kinda supprise me, but that’s a good sign. I recommend this movie, it’s a good movie.
