Fixing The Computer: Update 2

Posted By: Friday 28 December 2007 No Comments Yet

Today I could pick my computer up from the repair store. They had changed the motherboard and everything seemed to work. So I went to Computerland and after paying a bill of 100 euro’s I could take my computer and my old motherboard with me. Right now I’m formating my harddisk and re-installing Windows XP. No, no Vista for me YET! I’ll stick to XP a bit longer and I’ll see when I switch to Vista. I know one thing for sure, If I’m going to upgrade to Vista, I’ll make sure that I’ll make an Unattended Windows DVD! What is the advantage of having a Unattended Windows DVD? That’s really simple: An Unattended Windows dvd does everything for you, install a windows along with any application you could want with absolutely no user input required! So you put in a DVD and the dvd does all the rest, down to even switching you to a classic start menu if you’d like.

As I hadn’t any time to make an unattended windows dvd, I’ll have to follow another step to spare some time next time when I’ve to format and re-install XP and all the other software which I use. How? I’ll make an image with Norton Ghost. This way I only have to put the image back in order to have a clean, fresh Windows XP again and I’ll spare myself 3 or 4 hours!
