We’re Going To: Egypt

Posted By: Saturday 26 January 2008 11 Comments

Yes! We finally found some time to focus on our summer holiday yesterday! We had 5 different countries in mind: Turkey, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal & Egypt. Off course we had some demands… we wanted to have the same comfort as our last holiday, a place where you can relax, a place with not that much kids, not that crowded, a place where you can see a lot of things. No, not museums, but the nature!

So yesterday we headed to the travel agency called D-Reizen and explained what we wanted. After a while it became clearly that Portugal, Italy and Cyprus couldn’t meet our needs, so it was either Turkey or Egypt. So at first we choose for Turkey, but after seeing a couple of hotels we saw that even Turkey couldn’t meet our needs, so we moved on to Egypt.

After seeing some hotels, we still didn’t knew what to choose! They all were just beautiful, so it was really hard to choose!! But then some other woman who worked at the travel agency told us that she had been to a place called: El Gouna. This would be the Venice of Egypt, and she showed us some pictures of the place, which were magnificent! El Gouna is located on the Red Sea in Egypt, 22 km north of Hurghada International Airport, and is specialized in watersports, including scuba diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, waterskiing, parasailing and snorkeling. There are two main beaches, Zeytuna Beach located on its own island and Mangroovy Beach. A network of canals allow many houses to have their own strip of beach, even hundreds of meters inland. Most of theses canals are crossed by small stone bridges!

This is what we wanted, so we searched for a nice hotel in El Gouna, and we finally choose the Three Corners Ocean View hotel! This is a 4 star hotel with almost everything in it: 2 swimming pools, a jacuzzy, sauna, reastaurants, bars, fitness room, is located at the beach and 1 km from the center of the city! So we booked our holiday right away, we will be living 14th of August till 22 August! We will be flying with Transavia again but not from Eindhoven Airport, but from Schiphol Amsterdam. The flight will take something about 4.30 hours, so that’s doable for me, but it will be harder for Jannie. Anyway, we’re really looking forward to it, and here below you can see some pictures of our hotel!

I have some more picture which you can view here below!

I can tell you El Gouna is wonderful! It’s a very peaceful place. I highly recommend to take the shuttle boats and to go on every route they offer. It’s just fantastic!

Will you go on a little sightseeing also?

I hope you enjoy your stay in Egypt!

  9. As a hotel banquet manager, I love the folded towel swan and flower. It’s the “little” touches that make places like this special.
