In order to get my graduation, I have to work for 4 months in an internship company called Artiworld. Tuesday 9:00 am began my first day at the company. Yes.. That’s why I haven’t been that active with blogging… After signing the paper works (contracts etc) and discussing about the assignments, I got my internship assignments. I got 4 project which I have to complete by the end of my internship period of 17 weeks. So what are my projects?
- Project 1: Making a demo for a new project. Well, actually a video tutorial for a application called AgendaChecker. I can’t reveal what it’s about right now, but this video tutorial will be burned on mini Cd’s and will be send to any new leads and to anyone how want to use this application.
This project has some sub projects: Finding the proper piece of software which is easy to use, how the software works, the costs of purchasing the software etc. - Project 2: Artiworld is an artist agency, and they have a lot of artists, acts, bands etc in there database. It’s my job to put soundtracks, and/or video clips of them on Artiworld’s website. There for I have to edit songs and cut them to 30 seconds (Because of the protection law in Holland) and have to reduce the size and format of the video clips to something smaller. As you can guess, I have to find the proper software and figure out how it works as well!
- Project 3: Composing, designing, a new mini magazine. There for I have access to a lot of photo’s and reviews of the bands in the database. Like the other two projects I have to find out how much it’s going to cost, and even finding new pictures of the bands/artists.
- Project 4: Performing all the common stuff at the office. Like answering the phone, knowing how to work with the database, making coffey (
), but also making calls to customers, artists and other agencies. And that’s not it..
I have to be able to sell, making proposes for the right band/artist to the customers, leading and completing a order. Yeah.. Practicly everything!
Anyway.. Tuesday I got my own desk with a Dell computer and got introduced to the database, how it works, how you can find info, how you can edit band/artists/customer information etc, but also how to work with some other application which works together with the database.
After this explanation, I decided to start at project 1, making a video tutorial and searching for the proper software. In the past day’s I’ve been trying a lot of softwares like: Easy Screenrecorder, Screenrecoder 5, Canstudio, Screenvirtuoso, BB Flashback and today I found the piece of software which I’m going to use: Adobe Captivate! It’s a small piece of software and it’s very very easy to use. Maybe I’ll making a video tutorial on how you can use Adobe Capivate!
So tomorrow I’ll start recording the tutorial and when it’s finished, you’ll be able to watch it in my portfolio. Everything what I’m going to make/design is going to be visible in the portfolio of my section!
I also managed to edit and reduce the size of 10 videoclips of various artist. I had tried something about 30 different software and none of them could do the job, until I came across a blog, which I can’t remember the name of
, but it said that if you want to edit / reduce a videoclip you could use Windows Movie Maker. Just open the videoclip, edit if you want to, and then save it as Video for broadband (150 kbps). This will give you a 320 x 240 px video clip with 15 frames p/s. So that’s good enough for putting it on the website…
I have been working for 3 days now, and I have difficulty waking up in the morning, not that I’m late at work, but I can’t wake up easily.. It seems that I’m not used to a 9:00 to 17:30 work day… When I get home from work, I’m too tired to do anything, that explains why I haven’t written anything on the blog, but can’t fall in sleep!! It’s really frustrating!
I hope that I’ll get used to this in the next weeks, and find a balance in this! ![]()

Adobe Captivate over Camtasia? I have never heard anyone recommend Abode Captivate, I think I might have to go and check it out.
Ben’s last blog post..Only You can Prevent Repetitive Stress Injuries
Give it another week and you’ll get used to it :D!
But only today then is weekend
WOW! That sounds like a really tough internship to me! It makes mine look tame… of course, it’s not like the place I interned at was all that tecky to start with!
What sort of degree are you working towards?
I’ve never tried Captivate before. Please be sure to give us a hint of what it’s like when you find time. I’ll read it! I do enjoy fiddling with Windows Movie Maker from time to time. But I don’t ever do anything too big.

2 Ben: With Camtasia I found it hard to understand and didn’t like working with it BUT Adobe Captivate is really simple to use! I recorded a demonstration (just filling a form) and adobe fills the right text on the right box, highlights the points where I had clicked automatically, set pauses between the clicks and more! So that’s the biggest things I like about it! It’s easy to use, and easy to edit!
2 Nicole: Yes.. I know.. almost weekend!! Maybe I can catch some sleep and I hope I’ll used to this next week!
2 Aywren: It’s not that tough.. I think I like doing it!
I’m going towards my graduation of MBO (intermediate vocational education). After this I’m going to study at a higher level: HBO (school for higher vocational education), and when I’m finished with that: I’ll get my bachelor diploma!
Sure.. If I have some time I’ll write something about Captivate! Maybe even with a demonstration video!
Camtasia?
Damn that program sucks!
I don’t use it for recording purposes, but I prefer the adobe application
Dakey’s last blog post..PSP Slim&Lite addicted!
Yes… I agree!!
Adobe is just easy to work with!
