Some time ago I had designed a brochure called Earth Charter ( in Chinese! ) and it would be printed and distributed in China.. Well, that’s done and (almost) all of the 50.000 copies are distributed to people but one! Yes.. I have to have one for my portfolio off course! Anyway, making something is one thing, but seeing that people are holding your piece of work is another thing! The Earth Charter was an assignment from my internship boss, and it was he how had taken some pictures of some Chinese people how got the brochure which I had made! That’s a strange thing, when you see that people are holding your peace of work, or using your design, isn’t it?!

I know exactly what you mean! I work in materials development for a non-profit organization (amongst other things I do there), and often design newsletters, brochures and fliers for educational purposes in the community. Though nothing I’ve created has ever gone to China (congrats!) it’s always a weird feeling to see someone toting around something I’ve made under their arm like it’s a part of their daily life.

I also design an inter-organizational monthly e-zine which goes out via email to all of the employees. I get a kick out of walking into someone’s office and seeing they had taken the time to print it and post it on their bulletin board for some reason or another.

Good job on your work!! :)

Yes…It’s always a kick when you see people looking at your work.. The thing I like about designing is the reaction of the people how get to see your design! Sometimes it’s good, which will give you a very good feeling! and sometimes it’s bad, which gives you the opportunities to rethink your design, and learn from it! I have seen a lot of your designs at devainart, but why don’t you put it on your blog too?

You mean put an art gallery on my blog? I honestly hadn’t thought about doing that, and I’m not sure why. That’s a good suggestion!

I see that you installed a Coppermine gallery on yours. Was that difficult to do?

I use the Coppermine gallery just and only for the pictures. It wasn’t that hard to install this!
But for my portfolio, I’ve use the build in page function of Wordpress. This way it’s always in the exact same style and easy to edit!

I don’t know which one fits you, but for portfolio I would use the build in page function of wordpress..
