Some time ago I had designed a brochure called Earth Charter ( in Chinese! ) and it would be printed and distributed in China.. As the size of hard drives increase, more people are using partitions to separate and store groups of files. XP uses the C:\Program Files directory as the default base directory into which new programs are installed. However, you can change the default installation drive and / or directory by using a registry hack.

Start
Run
Type regedit
Go to this directory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir. by default,this value will be C:\Program Files.
Edit the value to any valid drive or folder and XP will use that new location as the default installation directory …

If your working with a lot of pictures then you probably have a huge collection of pictures. But do you know if you have some duplicate images? You probably don’t know, but you might have it! In a lot of my previous posts you can find a lot of registry “hacks”. Every time you change something in the Windows registry you have to reboot to re-initialize the new registry settings! But I found a tip from IT Tech Talk, which let’s you reinitialize the registry without reboot the computer!

Open task manager by CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
Locate explorer.exe
Kill this process
Now go to task manager, click on File–>New Task
Type ‘explorer‘ to start new instance of windows explorer.

And that’s it!
