The lost of your important data such as your saved files, pictures and other data is the worst thing that could happen if your Windows XP installation get damaged, corrupted, attacked by viruses or won’t boot. This is a scenario that we all have been through, right?! And we all know and agree: When this happens, it sucks and it happens on times when you haven’t made a backup! As we all know, My Documents is the most popular folder where computer users save almost all of there data such as: videos, musics, pictures and important documents.
So when Windows XP installation becomes unusable and won’t boot, how can you access My Documents which includes everything you had saved?? You see, My Document is located by default on drive c: or where Windows XP was installed. So when you need to reformat your Windows XP installation, you might want to be sure to access and get your files on My Documents, which is sometimes a hard thing to do!
BUT there’s a easy way: Changing the default location of My Documents!! This means that whenever you need to reformat you computer, you can freely format it without worrying of your files located on My Documents again! Why? Cause you already had located My Documents folder on different drive which will not be affected even if your drive c: was damaged!
How do you change the location of your My Documents folder?? Easy, with just 4 steps!!
- Right click the My Documents shortcut on desktop
- Click on the “Move” button
- Choose the location where you want to transfer your My Documents folder
- Click OK.
That’s it! From now on you’re sure that your documents will be save! ![]()
