The New Alexa Rankings

This morning when I looked on my blog I saw that my Ranking wasn’t “correct”. Yesterday it displayed a ranking of 771,040 but today suddenly it showed a ranking of 930,915! I didn’t understand the difference and wanted to know what the hell it was going on…So when I clicked on my Alexa widget it became clearly that Alexa has a new ranking system! Why??

Alexa toolbar users’ interests and surfing habits could differ from those of the general population in a number of ways, and we described some of those possible differences on our website. While the vast majority of sites’ rankings were unaffected by such differences, we’ve worked hard on our new ranking system to adjust for situations in which they could matter.
The new rankings should better reflect the interests and surfing habits of the broader population of Web users.

If you depend on link or site selling as a form of monetization you will definitely want to increase your Alexa rank, because it will increase your bargaining power when it comes to ad pricing.

I heared the announcement that alexa has changed its ranking algorithm. I am little happy with this change because my website got little improvment. see new alexa ranking for http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=www.fortunehotels.in Fortune Park Hotels Ltd.

I don’t like the new ranking system and that’s why I’ve removed the Alexa Widget from my site. :)
But I’m glad that your Alexa ranking has improved! :)
