How To Back Up Your Registery

Posted By: BioTecK on Friday 16 May 2008 with 3 Comments

In the past I’ve written some post where editing the systems Registry was necessary. However I never told you how to backup your Registry before editing it! But better late then never!

Anyway, backing up your Registry it’s very important, cause your system Registry contains all information about your system. A Registry backup will help you to restore your Registry in case of problems after modifying.

Making a backup of your systems Registry is very easy:

  1. Go to Start
  2. Type regedit in the Run box
  3. Click OK
  4. When you see the Registry you can export the whole Registry or you can export only the sub key which you want to edit.
  5. Go to File menu option
  6. Click on Export option for backup
  7. Save it somewhere on your computer with the .reg extension.
  8. To restore your back up follow the same steps but this time click on Import and locate your .reg backup file.
