Locking your workstation is very important. Cause when you leave your workstation unlocked, anyone can use your workstation and assume your network identity, gaining access to any applications or files to which you have access. There you have to keep your workstation secure. You should lock your workstation whenever you leave it, even if you will only be gone for a few minutes.

Here are some methods to lock your xp workstation real fast.

Method 1: Creating a shortcut

  1. Go to your Desktop
  2. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click
  3. Enter the following command in the location field:

    rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

  4. Give the shortcut a name you like
  5. That’s it.. :razz:

Method 2: Using A Keyboard shortcut
You can lock your workstation by pressing Windows Logo + L.

Method 3: Using Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and click on Lock Computer

Method 4: Locking your computer through the screen saver

  1. Go to your Desktop
  2. Right-click and select Properties
  3. The Display Properties window will be open
  4. Select the Screen Saver tab
  5. From the drop-down list, select a screen saver file
  6. In the “Wait:” field, set the amount of time you want the screen saver to wait for activity before starting.
  7. Check the Password protected box
  8. click OK

From now on, when the screen saver comes on, your workstation will be locked.

Unlocking your computer
However you choose to lock your computer, to unlock it, press Ctrl-Alt-Del. A window will appear where you can enter the password for the username under which you’re logged in.

I usually hit the Windows Logo + L every time I walk way from my computer. This is to ensure no one will use my computer without my knowledge.
