Vista Battery Saver For Laptops!

Posted By: BioTecK on Friday 17 October 2008 with 22 Comments

Some time ago when I had my doubt about switching my OS from XP to Vista, I wrote a post called :To Vista Or Not To Vista. Axioblogger from Axioblog left me a message and he told me this:

“Vista is cool. I like it well maybe I don’t use a lot of programs just the basic programs. The only thing is that vista uses a lot of battery power if you are using it on a laptop.”

Well, as I don’t have Vista running on my laptop so this wasn’t an issue for me. However while I was surfing around I came across this website: Vista Battery Saver.

Vista Batter Saver will save up to 70% of your battery by disabling those nice, but greedy Vista features. Vista Battery Save runs in task bar with private workset of 5.5M and 0% CPU and it will do all the work for you. By enabling and disabling customizable features when power source changed or battery power fall under certain percent.

Like I said: I don’t have a laptop with Vista installed on it, but this can be a good and great tip for those with vista running on there laptops!

based on the shots, it is about disabling aero. I do not use aero stuffs as I know they take lots of juice from the battery. My standard battery can still last about 2 hours on active usage with low power option turned on when in battery.

Do they make one that works with Windows XP? Sure, there aren’t a lot of power hungry features on it, but any battery savings would help.

If you are just an average PC user – you may be able to live with Vista.
For professionals who is using advanced software from different vendors I would suggest to stay away for at least few more years – there is TOO many compatibility issues…
Just today my friend could not install Nero that he bought less than a year ago on new Windows Vista laptop.

I’m running Vista since September last year and so far nothing bad happend, not even a BSOD Ewan – Calling Cards. However, Vista will never beat XP.. Let’s wait and see what Windows Se7en does!

Battery life is probably the biggest topic among laptop users. Good to see another article on the topic. Aero is over rated in my opinion so turning it off is well worth the savings.
