Some time ago when I had my doubt about switching my OS from XP to Vista, I wrote a post called :To Vista Or Not To Vista. Axioblogger from Axioblog left me a message and he told me this:

“Vista is cool. I like it well maybe I don’t use a lot of programs just the basic programs. The only thing is that vista uses a lot of battery power if you are using it on a laptop.”

Well, as I don’t have Vista running on my laptop so this wasn’t an issue for me. However while I was surfing around I came across this website: Vista Battery Saver.

Vista Batter Saver will save up to 70% of your battery by disabling those nice, but greedy Vista features. Vista Battery Save runs in task bar with private workset of 5.5M and 0% CPU and it will do all the work for you. By enabling and disabling customizable features when power source changed or battery power fall under certain percent.

Like I said: I don’t have a laptop with Vista installed on it, but this can be a good and great tip for those with vista running on there laptops!

based on the shots, it is about disabling aero. I do not use aero stuffs as I know they take lots of juice from the battery. My standard battery can still last about 2 hours on active usage with low power option turned on when in battery.

Very nice tip. This will be something to use when i get a laptop. If you want to further reduce power usage, switch to XP. ;)

personally speaking apart from disabling aero theme and the sidebar i also deactivate some services in the administrative tool. i also use the classic theme which is a time saver theme in Vista and XP!

Hmm.. Maybe if Vista starts giving me troubles, but to be honest.. I kinda like Vista John D.. :D

I also have disabled some features which I didn’t liked or needed. Which services did you turn off Web Talk.
The Classic theme? I stop using it when Windows XP came out!
