How To Enable Vista’s Hidden Bootscreen: Aurora

Posted By: BioTecK on Tuesday 27 January 2009 with 12 Comments

What do you think about the default Vista’s bootscreen? It’s not really spectacular at all and it’s boring.  I mean..It just shows a loading bar and the Microsoft Corporation copyright on a “beautiful” black screen. Cool isn’t it? Nope, you got that right!

You can make your Vista even cooler with a hidden bootscreen called Aurora. I don’t know why this bootscreen isn’t active by default, cause this one looks much better then the default one.

To enable the hidden bootscreen in Vista, follow the steps here below:

  1. First disable UAC. For more info on disabling UAC read:  “Disable User Access Control In Windows Vista” and/or “Switch UAC To The Quiet Mode“. If you like UAC, then you can enable it again after enabling Vista’s hidden bootscreen.
  2. Go to StartSearchbar
  3. Type msconfig and hit Enter
  4. Now, go to Boot tab
  5. In the Boot option Check No GUI Boot option
  6. Click on Apply and OK to close the screen
  7. Now reboot your computer and enjoy the Aurora bootscreen!

Windows Vista is cool. Changing the boot screen to a custom image is even more fun. But beware that boot screen file alter could render your system to lose some system files and can cause windows to be corrupted. I have got stuck twice and had to re-install the whole setup.

Vista is indeed very different then XP.. If you can customize it by turning off a lot of features you can work with it very well Money Acamedy. However.. I’m so looking forward to Windows Se7en… :D

I haven’t experienced anything such as a slower boot time or etc Freestuff. And yeah it should be already on your computer..
