Samsung SSD Awesomeness

Posted By: Friday 20 March 2009 10 Comments

Now before we go on… In case you haven’t heard of the SSD before, SSD is a disk drive that uses memory chips instead of rotating platters for data storage. SSD’s are faster than regular disks. Now the question have been answered, let’s move on….

Now imagine this.. 24 250 GB SSD’s (total capacity: 6TB) chained together in one RAID device, making it a fast computer! A very fast system that actually reaches transfer speeds of 2GBps, which is capable of loading all Microsoft Office applications in half a second, ripping a full 700MB CD in 0.8 seconds, open 53 programs from the test computer’s start menu in 18 seconds and do a complete system defrag in 3 seconds.
Don’t believe me? Just watch the video here below!

Now that’s a system I’d love to have, don’t you?!

  2. Man, I gots to have me one of those! Pardon my grammar, sometimes I get excited. Seriously, I hope this paves the way for solid-state storage hardware to take over. It’s faster and more reliable. Sheesh, watching that video, it’s almost as if the entire storage space on the PC can double as RAM.

  3. Silas says:

Honestly don’t think it will be faster because there are 24.
I think you can just do it with 6 or 8.
SSD disks have an average of 230 Mb in the reading speed. Why is speed only 2 GB when there is 24 SSD’s.

I would like to play World of Warcraft with that many SSD. Probably takes me about 2 minutes to open all those programs.

  5. I was going to write exactly what Silas did. This exact system might be way expensive but something along the lines of it wouldn’t be too hard to put together.

    Thnx a lot Wilson! :D

LOL! Yeah, I wouldn’t mind to have a system like this Sean from US Medical Supplies!

You might be right Silas. According to my calculation the speed would be some where arround 5GB.. Anyway I would like to see how fast it would be with 6 SSD actually..

Yeah, I guess it would Kai Lo.

Yeah, like I mentioned I would like to see how fast it would be with 5 or 6 SSD disks Spot Cool Design.

    Hi,
Thanks for the informative post I really don’t know about SSD. I read that it is a disk drive that uses memory chips instead of rotating platters for data storage. SSD’s are faster than regular disks.
