Akismet Spam Filter!

Just wanted to say that I really love the Akismet Spam filter!
So far it has caught more then 19,000 spams and I just deleted 700 spam comments. Imagine getting all of those emails in your inbox! :shock:

So if you haven’t Akismet running on your blog and you want to have a spam free blog, then you really should give it a try.  The installation is very easy; Download the plugin (via the plugin page in the admin part if you’re using Wordpress), get your API Key & activate Akismet and you’re good to go! :wink:

    I totally agree! I’ve heard people complain about Akismet but rarely has it put a spam message in my inbox. The (relatively minor) problem I have found is that every now and then it marks as spam a comment that isn’t at all.

    Certainly is a must have. Have had trouble in the past with spam on WP blogs and this has helped considerably.

    Do you actually manually sift through all those comments? I have a tendency to just hit the delete button and all my problems just go away

    I’m running a fairly large Cichlid website. Spam got so bad with affiliate links that I had to remove the URL field in the comment form. Spam got cut down to about 90% and everything else Akismet is stopping.

    MMm, maybe I’ll give it a go. I do have a spam catcher, but it’s let a few through lately.

    It is a good program but sometimes when I check my folder, there are still some legit comments.
