How To Disable TF3D Push Internet On HTC TP2

Posted By: Saturday 24 April 2010 3 Comments

Since a couple of months I have a new phone; HTC Touch Pro 2. The “Push Internet” feature on this phone can be useful to some as it automatically updated websites at chosen time intervals. This feature is enabled by default but what I didn’t knew was the fact that it keeps the browser (Opera Mobile) running at all time, even after closing the browser correctly. So having this running all the time means that the phones gets slower once you’re running multiple application on the phone. So disabling this feature would mean that the phone would get faster in use.

But how do you disable this feature?
The answer to this question is really simple; Just install the NoPushInternet V2 CAB from XDA-Developers. Once you’ve installed this on your phone you’ll see that the memory use percentage will drop immediately. In my case it went from 70% to 49%! Just look at the screenshot!

Another nice tip which I found on the XDA-Deverlopers forum was this nice registry hack which allows you to show Opera in HTC’s task manager. Navigate your way to the path below and delete “Opera9.exe”:

HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System

So now restart your TP2 and you’ll see that you’ve gained more free memory which makes the tp2 much faster! To enable Push Internet again, all you need to do is uninstall NoPushInternet V2 CAB.
