We all know the importance of having backups of our files such as pictures, mp3′s, documents etc so I’m not going into that but as a blogger…Do you also make backups of your WordPress database? If not, you really should!
Making a backup of your WordPress database is also very important. I mean you don’t want to loose all your posts, comments, pages etc, do you? Well I don’t. So that’s why I have this very handy plugin installed: WordPress Database Backup.
This plugin enables you to backup your core WordPress database tables as well as other tables automatically once a hour, day or week. Those will then be send to your e-mail. Beside that you can create backups immediately which you can download right away, save it on your ftp space or have it e-mailed to you.

Please note that this plugin will only backup your WordPress Database and therefore it will not backup all the physical files on your ftp server such as uploaded images, WordPress theme files etc. You either have to do this manually or perhaps your provider have some kind of tool which will do the trick for you.
Bottom line is: Make sure to create backups of your WordPress Database & Files regularly as this might come in handy in case of emergency!

Nice plugin.. That´s if I had a WordPress Plugin! :p
Uhm… I meant a WordPress blog!
LOL! No problem David!
I have this one, and it saved my bacon when I upgraded to WP 3.0. Phew! Good advice in this article.
Nice thanks (and for the other one too), are we going to be expecting more tips from you?
Great plugin, i have loss one of my blogs before with quite a few posts.
I use this plugin on a few of my websites, mainly because it sends the backup file by email, which is great. I created folders in my email account and I organize the backup files easily. Of course, I also download the backup files locally, on my PC
I’ve seen countless people(mostly new bloggers) lose valuable information because of not having a backup for their blogs when an unexpected event happens. It’s not a pretty sight. This plugin is such an easy install, I don’t see any reason not having one.
