As you might know each file in Windows has an extension in its filename, for example .doc is for Microsoft Word. So in this case when you double click on a file which has the .doc extension Windows tries to identify the program in order to open the file. Now in most cases you don’t need to change and/or set these file type associations however in some cases that can be very handy!
While I had Windows XP installed on my pc, I was able to change/set the file type associations under Folder Options.. However ever since Vista, Microsoft… Continue reading here »»

Almost a year ago I wrote a post called: “PDF to DOC Convertor“. The post was about a small tool which allows you to convert any pdf file to a Microsoft word document, .doc file. This tool extracts text, images and shapes from the PDF file to doc file and lets you keep the layout. This tool did his job very good but some days ago Richard from PDFtoWord.com left a comment saying:

Now before we go on… In case you haven’t heard of the SSD before, SSD is a disk drive that uses memory chips instead of rotating platters for data storage. SSD’s are faster than regular disks. Now the question have been answered, let’s move on….
Now imagine this.. 24 250 GB SSD’s (total capacity: 6TB) chained together in one RAID device, making it a fast computer! A very fast system that actually reaches transfer speeds of 2GBps, which is capable of loading all Microsoft Office applications in half a second, ripping a full 700MB CD in 0.8 seconds, open… Continue reading here »»

In the past couple of years I’ve helped a lot of people with there computer problems. A lot of people wondered why their computer was running slower than usual and why they notice a loss on their computer performance. Well, unfortunately the more often you use your computer the slower it gets IF you don’t do anything about it.
I mean think about ALL the junk and temporary files stored on your computer, all those broken registry keys / unused files when you un-installing an application etc. So it’s no wonder that your computer is getting slower and you… Continue reading here »»

Ever since I installed Windows Vista on my pc I noticed that there are times that my second HDD (Hard Disk Drive) doesn’t react that well. This only happened when I didn’t use my second HDD for a while. So when I wanted to access a file which was located in my second HDD it took some time before the HDD start re-initialize/spin-up.
At first I though that there was something in the BIOS but I was wrong! It was Windows Vista’s fault! In Windows Vista there are three preset built-in default power plans;

What do you think about the default Vista’s bootscreen? It’s not really spectacular at all and it’s boring. I mean..It just shows a loading bar and the Microsoft Corporation copyright on a “beautiful” black screen. Cool isn’t it? Nope, you got that right!
You can make your Vista even cooler with a hidden bootscreen called Aurora. I don’t know why this bootscreen isn’t active by default, cause this one looks much better then the default one.
To enable the hidden bootscreen in Vista, follow the steps here below:
- First disable UAC. For more info on disabling UAC

If you’re using Windows Vista then you have probably noticed the availability of Flip 3D. Flip 3D uses the dimension of visual depth to give you a better view of your open windows. This can be helpful if you have a lot of windows / programs open. You can use Flip 3D by pressing the keyboard shortcut: Windows key + Tab.
I don’t know about you but I like this feature. However if you have a low end system, the performance of the system will be affected when using Flip 3D. Luckily there is a way how you still… Continue reading here »»

UAC, better known as User Access Control is a new feature of Windows Vista. UAC is meant to improve the security of your system. Each time an application is installed or whenever an important system change is made by the user or by a running process, the screen is blacked out and temporarily disabled and a dialog is shown with the choices to allow or deny the action, as shown as below.
If you aren’t logged as an administrator, Windows Vista will also ask for the administrator password. Like mentioned before this is to improve the… Continue reading here »»
